The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman will participate in the 17th edition of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize laureates in Mexico's Yucatan state in September.
Together with Tawakkol Karman, 26 other Nobel Peace Prize laureates will participate in the September 19-21 summit.
Former Nobel laureates include Colombian Juan Manuel Santos (2010-2018), Poland's Lech Walesa (1990-1995), and Frederick de Klerk of South Africa (1989--1990) and Jose Ramos-Horta of East Timor (2007-2012) will participate.
Former Irish Prime Minister David Trimble, Iranian lawyer Shirin Ebadi, Indian activist Kailash Satyarthi, Liberian Lima Gbowee, American Judy Williams, Norwegian Betty Williams and Guatemalan Rigoberta Mencho will also participate.
The summit has been held annually since 1999 in symbolic cities for world peace such as Paris, Berlin, Hiroshima and others.
For two decades, the World Summit of the Nobel Peace Prize has been a meeting point for social, business and political leaders, as well as members of civil society seeking to participate in the peace building process, finding the tools to end wars, promoting disarmament and promoting global reconciliation.
