The human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman has welcomed the UN Human Rights Council decision, taken by a majority vote of 22 countries on Thursday, to extend the mandate of the group of Eminent Experts on Yemen.
In a statement on Facebook, Mrs. Karman said “the vote represents a slap in the face of those who had done their best to impede the group’s work and push representatives of Member States into voting against its extension.”
“As usual, they will always fail, and evil deeds of theirs as individuals and states will go down in the blacklist of history,” she added.
She has also pointed out that reports by local and international investigative teams will serve as legal evidence before domestic and international courts to convict and punish them for all of crimes they either have committed and justified or helped their perpetrators go unpunished.
