The Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has congratulated Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on winning the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his courageous diplomatic efforts in resolving the border conflict with Eritrea and sponsoring reconciliation among Sudanese parties.

Abiy Ahmed plays an essential role in leading Ethiopia to be among nations that respect freedoms and human rights, Mrs. Karman wrote on social media 

She also hoped that Abiy Ahmed’s win will contribute to promoting stability in Ethiopia and establishing peace in “our region suffering from senseless wars”.
