Tawakkol Karman denounces Israeli acts of genocide at World Meeting on Human Fraternity

Tawakkol Karman, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights advocate, delivered a speech at the World Meeting on Human Fraternity held at the Vatican.

Addressing the audience gathered between May 10-11, 2024, for the event organized by the Fratelli Tutti Foundation under the theme "Be Human," Karman condemned the Israeli acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians in Gaza. She called upon the international community to condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

During her address, Karman expressed admiration for the global student protests and sit-ins that have emerged in support of Palestinians and against Israeli aggression. She acknowledged the significance of these demonstrations in raising awareness and advocating for justice.

Karman emphasized the urgency of the situation in Gaza, stating that humanity itself is being slaughtered. She strongly denounced the ethnic cleansing massacres and genocide perpetrated by Israel, labeling them not only a disgrace to the occupation but also a stain on the international community that has thus far failed to prevent these atrocities.

In her speech, Karman also called for the implementation of binding mechanisms to prevent oppression and dictatorship. She firmly stated her belief that tyranny and dictatorship are the root causes of destruction, urging the international community to take action to ensure the protection of human rights and prevent further suffering.

Tawakkol Karman's address at the World Meeting on Human Fraternity served as a powerful call to action, emphasizing the need for global solidarity and concrete measures to address the ongoing human rights crisis in Gaza.
