Today, Wednesday, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist Tawakkol Karman attended the Nobel Summit, which is the first of its kind, hosted by the Nobel Prize Foundation.
Tawakkol Karman delivered a keynote speech during the virtual event's session entitled "a call for an intergovernmental panel for the information environment".
Meanwhile, she stated that most governments have turned into factories for producing lies and misleading their citizens, noting that democratic governments consider disinformation a justified policy tool.
She added that the misinformation and rumors have been used as means to obscure the facts and cover up war crimes against humanity committed in Yemen, Syria and the other Arab Spring countries.
Iran, Saudi Arabia, Russia and the UAE have in common that they all are hostile to change, popular revolutions, and the values of democracy, justice and human rights, she concluded.
