Karman Mourns Dr. Al-Dhaheri’s Passing, a Symbol of Knowledge and Integrity
Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights advocate Tawakkol Karman has expressed her deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Mohammed Al-Dhaheri, Professor of Political Science at Sana’a University and President of its Faculty Union, describing his death as a profound national loss.
In a condolence statement, Karman extended her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and to the Yemeni people, saying the tragedy marks “a painful moment and a great loss for the nation.”
She said Yemen had lost, at a time of great hardship, “one of its noblest, most honorable, and courageous sons.”
Recalling her acquaintance with Dr. Al-Dhaheri spanning more than two decades, Karman described him as “a steadfast companion on the path of struggle” who embodied “the dignity of knowledge and the integrity of the spoken word.” She noted that through his wisdom, humility, and moral strength, he remained close to the people and their aspirations for freedom and justice.
Karman concluded by praying for God’s mercy upon Dr. Al-Dhaheri’s soul and for his place “among the prophets, the truthful, and the righteous,” affirming that his departure leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and admired him.
