Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman marked the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday by calling for the occasion to be a moment of renewed commitment to the values of justice, freedom and peace.
In a message on her official X account, formerly Twitter, the human rights advocate congratulated Muslims, Arabs and “the peoples of the world” on the anniversary of the Prophet’s birth. She described it as the birth of the gifted mercy and the light that illuminated humanity’s path with the values of justice, freedom and dignity.
Karman said the day should serve not only as a celebration but also as a reminder of the struggle to defend the oppressed and work toward a more compassionate and equitable world. She emphasized that the Prophet Muhammad placed justice at the core of his message, freedom at the heart of human dignity, and peace as the foundation of his call.
Noting that many communities continue to face oppression and tyranny, Karman said it remains a moral duty to stand with the downtrodden and to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s example in striving for a more just and humane future.
