Nobel laureate: World media’s little attention to Iranian women’s struggle for Iranians raises eyebrows
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights activist, Tawakkol Karman, has been critical of the global media’s performance regarding Iran’s widespread uprising largely participated by women
against the mullah regime.
Commenting on the widespread and active participation of Iranian women as shown in a video shared on her official Facebook page, Tawakkol Karman indicated that the international media have ignored the popular uprising in Iran.
The Iranian women are leading the great struggle to liberate their people, she added, noticing that the revolution has reached all universities and all cities.
“The Iranian people will liberate itself and overthrow the authoritarian regime without the need for anyone”, she explained.
At least 92 people have been killed in the crackdown on Iran’s demonstrations taking place for more than two weeks in protest of the killing of the young woman, Mahsa Amini, after she was arrested by the morality police on the pretext of wearing indecent clothes.
