Yemen’s Nobel Laureate: Houthi attack in shipping lane is a conclusive evidence for militia’s grave risk to even international peace
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman denounced the attack on a UAE ship in in a strategic Red Sea shipping lane off the coast of Yemen at the weekend.
In a post published on social media, Karman stated the attack, carried out by the militia of Houthis and the ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh, on UAE’s civilian vessel in a strategic Red Sea shipping lane is an evidence that the putschists pose a threat to stability in the region and the world.
According to UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the aid ship, which was attacked off Al Makha by Al Houthis on Saturday, evacuated more than 1,000 Yemenis injured for treatment abroad.
It has also shipped electric equipment and power generators to rehabilitate the infrastructure in liberated areas and ease the suffering of children in Aden and other liberated provinces, ministry added.
