The human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Tawakkol Karman has said that all signs indicate that Abdel Fattah Sisi is leading his country into the abyss, adding, "Egypt deserves a better future.”
In a post published on her Facebook account, Karman drew attention to “the terribly deteriorating economy, bad reputation and the worsening situation of human rights Egypt has suffered from, explaining that all of this tells that “Sisi is not merely a sin but the mother of all sins."
She pointed out that everyone has been aware that his continuation in office represents an existential threat to Egyptian and Arab nation alike.
Yemen’s Nobel Laureate, nevertheless, expressed confidence that "Egypt would put an end to all this farce."
On 3 July 2013, Egyptian army chief General Abdel Fattah Sisi led a coalition to overthrow the first democratically elected President of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi, from power and suspended the Egyptian constitution.
