To end to the war and achieve a sustainable peace in Yemen, different basic pillars should be taken into consideration, including restoring the state, which must have control and sovereignty over the entire national territory,

ensuring justice and non-recurrence of conflict and reprisals and putting an end to the destructive role of ousted president Ali Saleh, said the human rights activist and Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman in an interview with electronic newspaper Arabi 21.

Karman stressed the need to review the immunity granted to the overthrown president Saleh and prevent him from playing any political role in the future. 

In the meantime, she noted that she was one of the early supporters of demands raised by the peaceful southern movement, affirming that these demands have been met thanks to the peaceful revolution of February. 

She pointed out that the UAE support for the transitional political council formed recently in southern Yemen is tantamount to leading a second coup against the legitimate authority represented by President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.  

Aden's former governor Major General Aidarous al-Zubaidi, who was dismissed from his post by Hadi last week, announced the council's formation after thousands of southern Yemenis demonstrated their support following his sacking.

On the other hand, Mrs. Karman considered that the measures taken against Qatar are unfair and exaggerated, and that the only beneficiary of this boycott campaign is the coup in Yemen and the Iranian project in the region.

Karman voiced considerable misgivings about US policy towards the Palestinian cause and Iran's expansion in the region, indicating that boycotting America is an unrealistic option.
