Tawakkol Karman: Morsi will remain Egypt’s leader while Sisi is mere putschist
The human rights activist and Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman has said Mohammed Morsi will remain the leader of Egypt, labeling the current president Abdel Fattah Sisi as a mere putschist.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Karman noted that the legitimate and real President of Egypt is being held in detention.
Karman launched a scathing attack on the Egyptian president who is set to win a second term as president of Egypt, accusing him of conspiring with Abu Dhabi and Riyadh to take over power in Egypt.
It is noteworthy that Sisi led the military's overthrow of Egypt's first democratically elected president, Mohammed Morsi, in 2013.
Since then, he has overseen what human rights groups say is an unprecedented crackdown on dissent that has led to the detention of tens of thousands of people.
