Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights advocate Tawakkol Karman has expressed her profound sorrow following the death of Dr. Abdul Bari Dughaish, a respected member of the Yemeni Parliament.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Karman referred to Dughaish as a "steadfast fighter" and a close friend, highlighting his dedication to human rights. She offered heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of Yemen during this time of loss.
Dr. Dughaish, who represented District 28 in Aden Governorate, passed away at the age of 67. A funeral procession took place in Sana'a, reflecting the deep respect he earned throughout his life dedicated to public service. Dughaish served in the Yemeni Parliament from 2003 to 2009 as a member of the Independent Parliamentary Bloc.
Born on March 19, 1959, in Taiz, Dr. Dughaish held a Master’s degree in General Medicine. He also served as the head of the Parliament's Health and Population Committee, demonstrating his commitment to improving health services in Yemen.
