Nobel Peace laureate and human rights defender condemned abuses and irresponsible actions of the UAE forces against political parties and activists in Yemen’s interim capital, Aden .
In a statement shared on Twitter, Karman said that Aden’s security department “affiliated to the UAE occupier continues its terrorist activities” against activists and political parties, most notably Islah Party.
She expressed solidarity with all those affected by what she described as the bullying of UAE occupier.
In related context, Mrs. Karman called upon the Islah party’s leadership to leave their present exile in Riyadh “because it has turned to be a humiliating detention.”
According to a press release issued by the party, UAE-supported security forces on Wednesday stormed Yemeni Islah Party’s headquarters in the Al-Qaloua neighborhood in the interim capital, expelling the guards of the building.
Several leaders of the Islah party and activists were arrested by the security agents and taken away to an unknown destination.
Security agents also raided the home of the Assistant Secretary of the Islah party, Mohammed Abdulmalik, and arrested him.
The Islah party’s statement demanded the immediate release of its members, urging Saudi Arabia to intervene and ensure the “cessation of arbitrary practices” in Yemen.
